Stories We Carry

Stories have always been carried before they were written.

This archive is a growing collection of voices, memories, and traditions shared across cultures and generations. Some are told in kitchens, some over the phone, some remembered only in fragments.

I started this project to honor the storytelling traditions that shaped me, and to create a space where others can share the stories they carry with them.

This project began with the stories of my grandmother, which I collected in my book Hajeetek Majeetek: My Grandmother’s North African Folktales. This archive continues that work by expanding beyond my own family and into a wider community of voices.
